Time Out #97 - Inspired by Words Challenge

Hi friends!  Happy Thanksgiving to my US friends.  I hope you are spending some time with your loved ones and eating all the bounty of this holiday!  I know I am!  This is my favorite holiday.
See the source image

The challenge over at the Time Out blog is Inspired by Words.  This is the sentiment to be inspired by.  So perfect for today's holiday.

I love wreaths, so I stamped up this magnolia wreath layered stamp set. The first layer was stamped in peanut brittle Memento Luxe and the second layer in brown.  I then die cut the sentiment three times in white cardstock and once in shiny gold cardstock.  I added sequins, mounted it on a brown panel then the base, and was done.  This is a 4.25" square card.

The Card Concept #82

Hi everyone!  I'm in Christmas card mode now and saw this great photo on the Card Concept's blog.  What a beautiful wreath!  I was looking through my Christmas stamps and dies and found a die that I thought would be perfect for this challenge.  I really need to participate in other challenges too instead of just creating for my design teams.  I'm getting lazy!

I started by sponging some Oxide inks on Bristol paper in pinks and blues.  Then I die cut this gorgeous wreath from it.  It came out just as I imagined!  That doesn't happen often!  I just bought the Concord & 9th release and this ribbon die and sentiment were perfect for the middle of the wreath.  I embossed the sentiment in platinum embossing powder.  As I was laying everything out, I decided to impress the main panel with a linen impression plate.  Then I saw these snowflakes that were die cut from the die and added them as accents instead of throwing them out.  I sprayed the whole thing with shimmer spritz.  I think I would call this Clean and Simple according to the Card Concept's definitions.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #420 - Color Week

Hi friends!  It's color week at Just Us Girls and Angie chose a fun combo!

When I saw the new MFT release, I knew I wanted to get this deer die set and the chained link set.  When I finally got around to ordering it, they were sold out everywhere.  So sad!  But my LSS, Buffalo Stamps and Stuff, came through.  I got the last one of each!  Love that store!

Anyway, I thought it would be perfect to use for this challenge.  I started by die cutting a stitched rectangle from Bristol paper and sponged Peacock Feathers oxide ink on it.  Then I doe cut two stitched snow drifts from the same paper.  I die cut the deer from brown cardstock and the antlers from some shiny gold paper as well as the sentiment.  For the first time, I used the Copic opaque white paint to spatter some to look like snow falling.  I added the gold hearts to the antlers and black enamel accents for the eyes. Love those antlers!

CAS-ual Fridays #187 - Gratitude with Altitude

Hi everyone!  The challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays is Gratitude with Altitude.  What does that mean, you ask?  I was a little stumped too until I saw what the design team came up with.  Basically it's giving some "lift" to your thankful sentiments.
This is what I came up with.  I bought this stamp set way before I was on the design team.  I just loved it and the sentiments.  I die cut the curve on the main piece then curved the green image on my Mini Misti to follow it and stamped it.  Then I stamped the top sentiment in orange.  The middle sentiment was stamped in Versamark on desert storm cardstock and embossed in white.  I made it a smidge longer than the main panel and cut the ends into flags.  This piece was raised from the main panel using dimensional tape.  To give the desert storm piece behind this panel some texture, I ran it through a quilted embossing folder.  Spectrum noir shimmer was added to the green image and sequins completed the card.

I used this week's CAS(E) this sketch for my layout.  Very cool one!

Just Us Girls #419 - Trend Week

Hi everyone!  I'm the hostess over at Just Us Girls this week, and it's our Trend Week.  I saw Jennifer McGuire do a video on silhouette stamping a while ago and thought it would be good for this trend week challenge.

I was at my LSS last week and came upon this Penny Black stamp set.  I thought it would look good stamped in black, so I bought it.  I wish my photo taking skills were better.  This card looks so washed out, when it really isn't!  I started by sponging some oxide inks onto a piece of Bristol white cardstock.  I left it lighter around the manger.  Then I stamped the images in Versafine onyx black.  I wanted to spatter it with some copic white paint, but I didn't want it to get all over the images, so I just used a white get pen.  I stamped and embossed the sentiment.  Starting to get those Christmas cards done!

Time Out #96 - CASE Challenge

Hi friends!  The challenge over at the Time Out blog is a CASE challenge.

This is the card by Michele we are CASE-ing.  Love the layout and the way the she die cut the word on that angle.

So here's my take on it.  I used the same layout and design, but stamped this new plaid bg stamp in red and then the lines in black.  I die cut the word (which was a freebie from Concord & 9th) from the panel and three more times from white cardstock and stacked them together.  I mounted the panel onto a black panel and inlaid the word die.  I stamped Christmas on black cardstock and embossed it in white.  I added sequins to finish it off.  Maybe I should have left them off...not sure about them.

Just Us Girls #418 - Word Week

Happy Saturday!  We have a new Word Challenge over at Just Us Girls.  Maria chose the word THANKFUL.  Great word for this time of the year!

I was organizing my new stamps the other day and came across this free stamp I received from Concord & 9th.  I thought it was perfect for this challenge.  I stamped it in one of those Kaleidascope ink pads.  This one was from Stampin' Up, so it's an old one called Pumpkin Patch.  Then I used a wonky stitch die to cut it out.  I also came across this plaid cover die from Altenew while I was organizing and used it over the Distress Oxide inked background.  The colors matched the ink pad I used on the stamp perfectly.  The background was spritzed with water.  I added sequins too.

CAS-ual Fridays #188 - Anything But a Card

Hi friends!  I'm late getting this post up, but over at the CAS-ual Fridays blog, the challenge is to make anything but a card.  I love tags, and CF has some cute tag dies, so that's what I went with.

I love making tags for Christmas, and these just came out so cute.  I cannot wait to put them on some gifts!  I die cut four tags and found four different scraps of holiday paper and die cut pieces of them with the tag die as well.  I stamped the sentiments in Catherine Pooler inks and the snowflakes.  I added a strip of cardstock and Nuvo drops on top of that.  Then I added the ribbon and the button tied with twine

Time Out #95 - Theme Challenge

Hey friends!  There's a new challenge over at Time Out and this time it's a Theme challenge.  The theme is sympathy, and there's an optional twist of distressing.

I needed two sympathy cards for friends who lost their pets within days of each other.  One was a total surprise and passed unexpectedly.  The other was quite old, but still a sad loss.  I pulled out this pet sympathy set from Papertrey Ink.  I die cut a heart from red cardstock and stamped the paw prints across the heart.  Then I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and embossed it in white embossing powder.  The heart was spritzed with shimmer spritz and layered onto a white cardstock impressed with an impression plate.  This was layered onto black cardstock onto a white card base.

On the inside, I stamped this beautiful sentiment and heart.

Just Us Girls #416 - Color Week

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls!  Vicki chose some colors that will work for Halloween or even a pretty card.

I pulled out this Monster Love stamp set because I just love these little guys!  I also wanted to send it to a little boy that is battling a rare form of cancer for seven months.  I saw a post on Taylored Expressions Facebook page about him, and all he wants are Halloween cards.  So I thought this would be a cute card to send to him.  I made the plaid pieces with a plaid builder set and the challenge colors.  The monsters were die cut then stamped.  I added shimmer to them and glossy accents to their eyes.  The background looked a little too white, so I spattered some black acrylic paint on it.

If you would like to send a Halloween card to this little boy, here is the address:

CAS-ual Fridays #185 - Think Pink

Hi friends!  It's October and it's Breast Cancer Awareness month, so the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is Think Pink.

I started with stamping several stamps to relay a message to all you ladies out there to get checked.  I stamped this on a piece of white cardstock and adhered it to a piece of some old SU pattern paper.  Then I ran that through the wonky stitches die.  I die cut the flowers and used the same pink ink used on the sentiments to stamp the flowers.  I added stickles to the flowers and some sequins and was finished.  Now I need to get up the courage to have my mammogram!  I absolutely hate going!  But I will make the appointment!  Sigh....

Just Us Girls #415 - Trend Week

Hi friends!  This week the trend at Just Us Girls is to make a window or peek-a-boo card.  Angie chose a great challenge...so many possibilities!

I wanted to copic color images, so I chose this new Stamptember stamp set from Simon Says Stamp and paired it with a die from My Favorite Things and some pattern paper.  (I have so much of it and need to use it!)  I sponged some ink on the background so it wasn't so white.  I added some Nuvo drops and the sentiment and was done.  Easy peasy!

Time Out #94 - Home Sweet Home Challenge

Hello everyone!  I love the Home Sweet Home challenge over at Time Out this week.  The photo is so pretty and so fall-ish!

Look at this pretty vase.  Love those orange pumpkins.

We are sponsored by Stamplorations this week, and I've used this cute pumpkin image from the Thankful for Autumn stamp set.  I felt like making a tag for this challenge.  I die cut the tag then stamped and masked the pumpkin.  Then I used a Tim Holtz stencil and inked it up with some Distress ink.  I colored the pumpkin image with copic markers, stamped the sentiment, and added Nuvo Drops, ribbon and twine bow.  There's also some Spectrum Noir shimmer on the pumpkin.

Just Us Girls #414 - Word Week

Hi everyone!  This week is Word Week over at Just Us Girls and Nancy chose "Light" as our word.  There's a bunch of ways this word can be interpreted.

I chose to make a set of four 4.25" square cards using lamps as the focal point in each one.  I've had this stamp set from Papertrey Ink for some time, and I don't know if it's ever seen ink!  I started by picking out an old paper pack from Stampin' Up and die cut a square frame from four different colors and also die cut the lamp shades from the same paper.  I stamped the lamp bases in coordinating colors.  Before I adhered the lamps to the card base, I masked off an area and sponged the "light" from the lamp in yellow ink.  I stamped two different sentiments, added sequins, and spritzed the card with shimmer spray.
