Just Us Girls #411 - Color Week

Hi friends!  Today is color week over at Just Us Girls, and Maria has chosen a warm fall color palette.
I just got this new stamp/die set from Concord and 9th.  As I was thinking about what I was going to make, I picked up this set to take it down to my craft room and thought it would be perfect for this challenge.  It's a two-step stamp, so I stamped the first layer in yellow and the second in orange.  Then I stamped the berries in burgundy and die cut the wreath.  Then I die cut the words and added crystal drops to the berries.  The wreath was spritzed with shimmer spray.  The front panel of the card base was given some texture with an impression plate.  The wreath was popped up with dimensional tape.
You can see more from our JUGs design team and September guest on the JUGs blog.

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #182 - CASE a Girl Friday

Hi everyone!  The challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays is to CASE a Girl Friday's card.  Cool challenge!
I chose this beautiful card by Michelle Lupton.  I love her style and this one really caught my eye for a number of obvious reasons!

Here's my case.  I went for the layout (which BTW was not easy to figure least for me!), the embossed background and the pinks.  I started by embossing the Curtis background stamp in Versamark and embossed it with clear powder.  I added Distress Oxide inks over the embossing and blended it together.  Then I cut it in half diagonally and laid it on the base so I could center the sentiment between the two pieces.  I stamped the sentiment in black, attached the panels to the base, and added sequins.  My card does not do Michelle's justice, but I do like it.
You can see more from the Girl Fridays on the CAS-ual Fridays blog.

Just Us Girls #409 - Word Week

Hi friends!  I'm the hostess over at Just Us Girls for our Word Week challenge.  I chose the word "SHOES" as I've always loved them and have many!
This is another new stamp I picked up last week at a Scrap and Stamp show especially for this challenge.  It's from Technique Junkies and is one stamp.  I stamped it in Versafine onyx black ink onto Bristol smooth white paper and embossed it in clear powder.  It's colored with Zig markers.  I had to color the soles of the shoes red!  The straps of the shoes were covered with glossy accents and I added some Nuvo crystal drops.  The panel was die cut with a wonky stitches die.

You can see more from the JUGs design team and our September guest, Linda Snodgrass, on the JUGs blog.

Time Out #91 - CASE Challenge

Hi friends!  I have a new challenge for you to participate in over at the Time Out blog.  It's a CASE challenge and the photo below is the card we are CASEing.
This lovely card is by Beverley Brown.  I just love the soft rainbow colors and those black accents from the flower and sentiment.
The thing that I noticed was the rainbow color palette, so that's what I used as inspiration for my card.  I went to a Scrap and Stamp convention this weekend and bought some amazing stamps, dies, and other crafty things!  I went with my stamping friend Cheryl and we bought the place out I think!  I got these layering dies from Honey Bee and die cut them from white cardstock.  Since I was covering up a lot of the background, I wanted my rainbow to be bright so it shined through.  Therefore I used the Gansai Tambi watercolor paints.  They give such a bright opaque color.  Love them!  I added a die cut sentiment and placed it in the same place as Beverley's card.  It was layered four times and I put some shimmer on top of it. Sequins finished off the card.
I hope you play along with us this week.   Beverley just happens to own Uniko and is our sponsor for this challenge.  Stop by the Time Out blog to check out the prize and to see inspiration from the Time Out design team and guest Lucie.
Thanks for stopping by!
Paper:  Recollections white, black, Masters Touch watercolor
Ink:  Gansai Tambi watercolor

Just Us Girls #408 - Photo Week

Hi everyone!  It's Photo Week over at Just Us Girls and Maria has chosen this fun Hawaiian themed photo for us to be inspired by.
I was so happy to see this photo because I could use this cool stamp set from Concord & 9th.  I of course bought it because that girl named Jennifer McGuire (you know her, right?  LOL!) used it in a video and it looked so cool I had to have it!  She made it look so simple, but it took me at least four tries to get it (sort of) right. (I guess I cased her card too!)  I stamped the pineapple in Versamark and embossed it in white.  Then I used the coordinating stamps and my MISTI to stamp the fronds, flowers and leaves.  I kept to the colors in the photo when I matted the stamped image and chose the base.  I don't know if you can see it, but I stamped the yellow base with a background stamp and Versamark to give it some texture.  I spritzed it with shimmer spray and added the sequins.  The sentiment banner is on dimensional tape.
You can see more from the JUGs design team and our guest, Darnell, on the JUGs blog.  This is Darnell's last week with us and we'd like to thank her for being such a great guest this month!

CAS-ual Fridays #181

Hi friends!  The CAS-ual Fridays challenge is up and it's a color challenge....kraft and white.
These types of cards are so fast and easy to create!  This took practically no time at all!  I started by die cutting a kraft cardstock with a pierced scallop die.  Then I stamped and embossed this cool floral hot air balloon in white.  I stamped the sentiment with kraft ink and added the twine and white sequins.  This panel is popped up on fun foam onto the white base.

Just Us Girls #407 - Color Week

Hi everyone!  Look at the bright primary colors Sue chose for the Color Week challenge over at Just Us Girls!
Here's what I did with them.  I was fortunate enough to get a Stamp of Approval box from Catherine Pooler Designs.  It came in the mail today, so I thought I'd use a lot of the products from it for today's challenge.  I took a leaf stamp and stamped in into a flower using the challenge colors on a tag die cut.  I love this sentiment and stamped it in black on top of the flower.  I was just going to make the tag, but decided to put it on a card so I used a stencil and the inked up the three colors on the side.  The tag was cut again in blue cardstock and layered behind the stamped tag.  I added ribbon, twine, sequins, and spritzed it with shimmer spray to finish it off.

Time Out #90 - Theme Challenge

Hi friends!  The new challenge over on the Time Out blog is the Theme with a twist challenge.  The theme is Autumn and the twist is to make your card in 10 minutes or less.  THAT'S a challenge!
Now I didn't time how long it took me to do this card, but it was under 10 minutes to create it.  Thinking about what I was going to make and getting the supplies together was another thing!  I started by die cutting the white panel with the wonky stitches die.  Then I started stamping the leaves.  I stamped the green one in the middle first, then stamped the others.   I wanted the die cut words to match the inks, so I used the direct to paper technique then die cut the words.  I wanted to stack the words, but to do that would have taken more time, so I just have one layer.  I had to add some Nuvo drops too!  This panel is mounted on a green base.

CAS-ual Fridays #180 - Friendship

Hello everyone!  There's a new challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays and the word to be inspired by is FRIENDSHIP.
CAS-ual Fridays just released four new stamp sets.  The "mwah!" comes from the one called Puffy Heart Love.  The font is so pretty!  I started by creating a background using Distress Oxide inks on Bristol Smooth white cardstock.  I spattered it with white and black paint then die cut it out.  I stamped the sentiment on vellum in Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder.  The rest of the sentiment, "and there's nothing you can do about it!" is stamped on the inside (forgot to photograph it!).  I added black and white sequins to finish it off.

Just Us Girls #405 - Word Week

Hi everyone!  I'm the hostess at Just Us Girls this week, and for our Word Week challenge I chose SHOWERI chose this word because yesterday was my niece's bridal shower.  She's getting married in September.  Can't wait for that!
So I needed a card for the bridal shower for my mom.  The color scheme for the shower was Tiffany blue, gold, and white.  So that's what I chose for the card.  I started by die cutting the umbrella then stamping the top in Audrey blue and the handle in gold.  I didn't have cardstock to match, so I took the ink cube and went ink to paper to create the blue strip on the left and for the sentiment.  I did the same for the gold piece.  I ran the white piece through a swiss dot embossing folder.  The sentiment was white heat embossed and I finished off the card with shimmer spritz and gold sequins.  My mom loved it!
I hope you can join us this week.  We are welcoming Darnell Knauss as our August guest!  So happy to have her joining us!  Stop by the JUGs blog to see more!

Time Out #89 - Home Sweet Home Challenge

Hi friends!  The new challenge at Time Out is up!  It's our Home Sweet Home challenge where we give you a picture in a home to be inspired by.
Here's this challenge's photo.  I love these colors!
21 Ways to Make the Industrial Look Work for You including brick veneer, pallet coffee tables and map walls:

I did something real simple because it's been a busy week for me!  Too much fun to be had in this short period of time we call "summer"!  So I used this new stamp concept that I'm obsessed with!  They are the turnabout stamps from Concord & 9th.  The one I used today is the Triangle Turnabout.  I stamped it in blue, kraft, and brown inks then again in Versamark and embossed in gold.  (My stamping is a little wonky!  The triangles don't match up very well.  I really need to fix that next time!)  I took these colors from the photo.  I stamped a whole panel then cut it in half and attached it to the card base.  I wanted to use the same blue color for the die cut, so I dragged the ink pad on some white cardstock and die cut the word from that.  I added gold sequins to finish it off.

Just Us Girls #404 - Wild Card Week: Something Old/Something New

Hey friends!  It's Wild Card Week over at Just Us Girls.  Since there are five Saturdays in July, the hostess can choose any type of challenge she wants.  Ina is our hostess and she chose to have us use something old and something new on our cards.
So for my something new, I used this new Sunshine turnabout stamp set from Concord & 9th.  I have three of these, and they really are so cool!  I also used four new ink colors:  one from Simon Says Stamp and the other three from Altenew.  The old is the Spellbinders die I've had forever and the sentiment stamp.  It's from MFT and it's still in their store, but I've had it for a while (I thought it was retired!).  I used the Garden Green cardstock from SU (another something old) because I was thinking this could be a masculine card, but then the pink ink jumped out at me!  So I spritzed it with shimmer spritz and added sequins and it's now a card for a female!  Can you imagine all the color combinations possible for this turnabout stamp?  Can't wait to play with it some more!
You can see more from the JUGs DT and our July guest, Aileen, on the JUGs blog.  It's her last week as our guest and I'd like to extend a thanks to her for being such a fabulous guest!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #179 - Dies Only

Hi friends!  There's a new challenge at CAS-ual Fridays.  This time it's to use dies stamps!  Let's see what you can do!
No automatic alt text available.
I decided to make a tag.  Since I couldn't use any stamps for a sentiment and I didn't have any CAS-ual Fridays sentiment dies (???), I used this paper with birthday greetings on it to get my message across.  The tag was cut from this paper and white cardstock as well to give it some stability.  Then I wanted to use these flower dies, but I wanted to add some interest.  I pulled out some watercolor paper scraps and my Color Burst powders and created some watercolored paper.  I die cut the flowers and leaves from these papers and layered them together with an enamel dot in the center.  The flower was added to the tag along with some ribbon and twine.  That paper used for the middle flower was created with yellow ochre Color Burst.  There are a bunch of colors in it!  I didn't expect that, but I went with it anyway.

Time Out #88 - Inspired by Words

Hello everyone!  The current challenge over on the Time Out blog is the Inspired by Words challenge.  Here's the quote to get you inspired:
If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.
I was inspired by the word sunbeams and used this rays stencil to start with.  I used three of the distress oxide inks.  Once I inked up the stencil, I spritzed it with water to get the oxide look and some water droplet marks.  When that was dry, I stamped the sentiment and spritzed it with shimmer spritz.  The word die was die cut four times and layered.   It too was spritzed with shimmer spritz.  I mounted this on a black mat and added some clear sequins.  This sentiment was inspired by the quote too.

CAS(E) this Sketch #231

Hey friends!  I've had to make a sympathy card for a friend's sister who recently passed.  She loved daisies, so this is what I made and sent to my friend and her nephew (it was his mom who passed).  I die cut this daisy, one in each size, and layered it.  I also die cut the yellow center and green leaves.  I mounted the flower on this pretty gingham pinked square.  It's hard to see, but I used a diamond shape impression plate on the white mat.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark on a yellow banner and embossed with white powder.  This whole panel was spritzed with shimmer spray.  I love the softness of the shimmer.
I used this sketch again from CAS(E) this Sketch.

Just Us Girls #403 - Photo Week

Hello friends!  It's time for another challenge over at Just Us Girls and this week is our Photo challenge.  Look at the fun summery photo Bobby chose.
I started by stamping this watermelon image from an older Stamp-a-Faire PTI set.  It's a three-step image.  I stamped the leaves/rind in green, then the meat of the watermelon in red, and the seeds in black.  Then I pulled out a scrap of the red check pattern paper and die cut a pinked edge square.  Once that was done, I took a piece of watercolor paper and used the same green ink to paint a square-ish splotch on it, big enough to accommodate the checked piece.  I layered this on top of a black banner which grounds it.  I stamped the sentiment and added sequins.  There's glossy accents on the seeds and shimmer on the watermelon.
I used this sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch.
